It’s been a little while since I’ve posted last, so I’m just going to talk about what’s been happening in my life so far.
Last weekend was my high school prom! Considering that I’m in Grade 12, I did go. I went with a group of my friends, and we all went to a hotel afterwards. It was a ton of fun, and I hope to make a post talking more about that night in the near future.
Saturday, I went out with my two friends Jess and Colin, and we went shopping for tripods. I didn’t buy a tripod, but I did find a monopod for my dad. I have no interest in a monopod, but he was pretty pleased with it, so hopefully he gets some use out of it! Speaking of which, I really need to use my DSLR camera more often. I always tell myself that I will, and I thought of maybe going out and filming some trains today, but unfortunately that’d probably be more like a day trip, and I don’t really feel like gambling on whether something will be out on the MacTier today.
We did, however, end up seeing a train! I was pretty pleased with it, since it was my first train in quite a while. Here’s the video, in case you’re interested:
It was caught with my cell phone, so the quality isn’t the greatest, but that’s okay. In the summer, I’ll actually try to take my camera on more railfanning excursions! I don’t have my digital camera any more, which is probably a good thing as the microphone wasn’t the greatest, but I do like the quality of the video shot on my DSLR. Speaking of which, I have to empty out the memory cards from it, as I currently have no space to film anything else!
On Tuesday, I took my road test for my full G…
What, did you really think I’d fail? For someone who lists one of her primary hobbies as “driving”, I sure do drive a lot. I haven’t driven quite as much since I lost my Forester, but that’s mostly because I’ve been very busy. I am, however, kind of saddened that I won’t have Foresty this summer for my various railfanning (and otherwise!) adventures, because she was a perfect companion for all kinds of railfanning. Great visibility for driving, AWD (which saved my ass many times in the winter when I went sliding), a comfortable interior and, of course, a fantastic trunk with lots of space for my tripod and other such items.
Anyway, yes, so I passed my G test and I am now a fully licensed driver! I am still currently waiting for my full license to come in the mail, which they said could take anywhere from 2-4 weeks.
Anyway, now it’s Saturday, and exams are starting on Thursday of next week! Ahhh! I must start studying for Calculus. My tutor was supposed to come today, but I unfortunately just realized that I’ll have to cancel with her, because I committed to doing something at 4 and she was supposed to come at 3:30… blah. An idiot, I am. Luckily, I will probably be having two separate study sessions with friends of mine, so it makes up for it!
Anyway, that’s enough rambling for now. I should probably get everything all sorted out with the tutor, and study for Calculus. See you next time (hopefully next week), all!
